Current Students

Our diverse graduate student body is a thriving group of individuals from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic levels, sexual orientations, religions and spiritual affiliations, ages, life experiences, countries of origin, and world perspectives.

The graduate students are not just students, but aspiring psychologists, and are treated as colleagues in the program.

We look to our students to bring refreshing new perspectives which can foster the program's mission of training multiculturally competent psychologist to serve in a variety of settings.

Here are some of the ways in which our graduate students have contributed to our program in recent years:

  • Jorge Martinez, a third year student, currently serves as the graduate student representative to Division 45 of the APA, the Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues.
  • Jung-mei Chin, now on internship, was recently awarded the Dissertation Award for Ethnic Minority Mental Health for her dissertation entitled "Risk factors and barriers in the assessment of suicidality among Chinese American females."
  • Keisha Ebony Holmes is now in her second year in the APA's Minority Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Fellowship program.

We are extremely proud of the students in our program!
